Jim Halpert‘s character is based off of the character of Tim Canterbury from the UK version of The Office. If you’d like to learn more about Tim Canterbury and the BBC show, read this Wikipedia article and watch this short YouTube video. We were shocked by the countless similarities between Jim Halpert and Tim Canterbury and decided to outline three that simply could not be ignored.

UK: Tim Canterbury has strong feelings towards his colleague, Dawn Tinsley, who was engaged to a worker named Lee.

US: Jim Halpert has strong feelings (and eventually marries) towards his colleague, Pam Beesly, who was once engaged to a worked named Roy. Pam Beesly officially became Pam Halpert in the episode, Niagra.

UK: Tim Canterbury spends his office free time “winding up” colleague Gareth Keenan.

US: Jim Halpert spends his office free time playing pranks on co-worker Dwight Schrute.

UK and US: Their infamous facial expressions.
